Friends of the Lake released the first annual Debris Report on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Follow this link to see the report:
The annual report is a summary of communications, newspaper articles, photographs, our debris survey, and our summary of our observations, opinions and recommendations regarding the ongoing debris problem on Lake Lillinonah.
Included in this report is a summary of our first debris survey. On September 8, 2012, Friends of the Lake and the Lake Lillinonah Authority sponsored a survey to determine the amount of debris present on the shores of Lake Lillinonah. Designed by Connwood Foresters, Inc., volunteers were trained and sent to 40 sample plots along the shoreline. Each piece of wood (greater than 1” diameter on the small end, at least 6” long) was measured and recorded within a 100’ stretch, from the shroreline to the high-water mark, for each plot. Results indicate that there are over 3,700 cubic yards of debris on the shores of Lake Lillinonah, after the sixth year of debris harvesting by FirstLight Power Resources.
Please read our annual debris report (link above) for more information and to see the survey summary report.
