Friends of the LakePosted: July 18, 2005 in General
The Lake Lillinonah Authority announced that they will be treating Lake Lillinonah with Copper Sulfate treatments in the northern section of the lake just below lover leap on July 8, July 25th, August 8th and August 25. These treatments will attempt to control the sever algae blooms in the early stages. No restrictions on swimming or irrigation. Please note that Friends of the Lake (FOTL) continue to raise the awareness of the high levels of nutrient loading, especially from the Still River which contributes to these severe algae blooms. These Copper Sulfate treatments only treat the symptom of the problem and not the cause of the algae blooms. The FOTL continues to urge CT-DEP to expedite the promised TMDL study to determine the proper regulation on discharges into our lake.
