New Deadline of July 24 Subject to Approval by Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Berlin, Connecticut - Apr 19, 2006 - Northeast Generation Services (NGS), operator of the hydroelectric power stations that form the Housatonic River Project, announced today it is requesting an extension of 90 days to file its Shoreline Management Plan with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). If FERC grants the extension, NGS will have until July 24, 2006, to file its final plan. NGS is currently modifying its draft plan in response to feedback from the general public and stakeholder groups received during the comment period concluded on April 18. “We are requesting this extension so that we can fully consider all comments submitted and incorporate input into our final plan. We will then communicate the significant changes to date and extend the public comment period into late June so that we can include input from seasonal residents,†said Dennis Brown, NGS director of asset operations. FERC continues to monitor the development of NGS’ Shoreline Management Plan. “Full review and consideration of all comments is the intent of the FERC process. We appreciate the valuable input we have received from all stakeholders and we are confident that this extension will result in an improved final plan,†Brown said. Updated information about the plan is available online at http://www.essexparternship.com/documents.asp The Shoreline Management Plan is required by the FERC license order and focuses on shoreline lands surrounding Candlewood Lake (Rocky River station), Lake Zoar (Stevenson Station), and Lake Lillinonah (Shepaug Station), as well as riverfront lands associated with the Falls Village and Bulls Bridge stations. In June 2004, FERC issued a 40-year license order to Northeast Generation Company (NGC) for the continued operation of the Housatonic River Project (FERC No. 2576). Northeast Generation Services Company (NGS) operates and maintains NGC’s hydroelectric generating stations in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Both NGC and NGS are part of the Northeast Utilities system (NYSE: NU). Learn more... The Essex Partnership Bruce DiGennaro email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
