Pollution UpdatesThe FOTL is concerned about the elevated levels of Nitrogen and Phosphorus impacting Lake Lillinonah. These nutrients enter the Lake upstream of Lover's Leap in New Milford and are a major influence causing the severe algae blooms that occur during summer months. The algae is not only unsightly and smelly but also depletes oxygen. The algae growth and decomposition negatively affect fishing and can cause rashes on swimmers and water skiers. The goal of FOTL is to significantly reduce the known and correctable causes of the algae blooms in order to make our lake as clean and safe as possible for all people to enjoy.
